Lowes Farms Herdsmanship Award

An award will be given in honor of Herbert Lowe for the many years of dedicated service to the Wicomico Farm and Home Show & the Livestock Department.

 

All livestock must be registered by AUGUST 1, 2012 by mailing entry blanks to the:
Wicomico Farm & Home Show, P.O. Box 493, Salisbury, Md. 21803; or by online submission. 
No entries will be accepted after that date. Livestock blanks are available at the

Extension Offices in Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset Counties and also on the web site,

GENERAL RULES FOR ALL LIVESTOCK
1. Entries will be limited to Jr. Exhibitors residing in or 4-H members enrolled in Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset Counties.  See “General Rules” page for age definition of Jr. Exhibitor.
2. Every animal must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor, and properly identified by ear tag or tattoo.
3. Exhibitors must state the number of animals and number of pens needed at the time of making  entries.   Each individual livestock entry must include animals ID tag # or tattoo.
4.
All livestock (cattle, swine, sheep & goats) must be accompanied by a current approved Health Certificate signed by a licensed vet & pre-approved by MD Department of Ag.
5. All exhibitors will be limited to two (2) entries per class.
6. Any animal shown in a fitting and showing class must be shown in a competition class, and all persons shown in fitting and showing class must enter a competition class.
7. In the event there is but one (1) entry in a class, placing shall depend on the merit of the entry and award made at the discretion of the judge .
8. All animals must be shown by owner unless previous approval has been granted by Livestock Chairperson.
9. All entries are to be entered on Thursday, August 16th, 2012 between 9am and noon, and must be in place by noon. Livestock weigh-in will be 9-11 am on Thursday.
10. Judging will begin at 5pm on Thursday, August 16th.  The schedule is included in the front of the book.
11. Each Exhibitor will provide their own food and bedding for Livestock.
12. Animals must stay in pens.  Animals are not permitted outside Livestock Area. (sand ring)
13. Lights out and no grooming of animals will be allowed after 10pm.
14. Every effort will be made to protect the animals while in the custody of the show, but the Farm & Home Show Committee disclaims any responsibility for the loss or damage to property or person.
15. Pen space under tent must be cleaned up after removal of animals or premiums will be forfeited.
16.   Animals cannot be removed until completion of Award Ceremony, Saturday, August 20th, 2012.

17. No livestock exhibitor may spend the night on the grounds without a parent present.

18. Discrepancies are at the discretion of the Chair and Co-Chair.

19. Dress Code - White or Khaki Pants and White Collared Shirt.

 


ANIMAL AGE IS DETERMINED BY AGE AS OF JULY 1 OF CURRENT YEAR, UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.
